Would you like to play a leading role in developing and driving a large, integrated research and innovation programme in a unique collaborative network of university and the offshore energy industry? Do you have solid industrial experience and a strong track record related to the energy transition? Then you might be the Technology Advisor that we are looking for at DTU Offshore - Danish Offshore Technology Centre. 

The job
As responsible for energy transition activities, you will play a central role in the centre’s research and innovation activities related to low-carbon power, sustainable offshore activities and net zero emissions. 

You will be part of the Programme Management group, a team of 12 experienced industry professionals. The team manages research programmes in offshore energy, sub-surface storage and the marine environment in cross-disciplinary industry-academia partnerships. 

As Energy Transition Advisor, you will be responsible for the following elements:

  • Generating new research ideas, defining business cases and making funding applications
  • Leading diverse research projects with both industry and academic partners
  • Ensuring that the project goals, technical readiness levels, risks and gate processes are well-defined and that the results are timely and business-relevant
  • Reporting on the progress of projects, communicating effectively with multiple partners and ensuring collaboration is optimised
  • Disseminating scientific results using a variety of media
  • Managing confidential and non-confidential data
  • Advising colleagues about the viability of potential technical solutions related to the energy transition 
  • In a collaborative effort, ensuring that the overall technical strength and organisational efficiency of the Centre is maintained
  • Actively engaging with existing and potential new stakeholders and staying abreast of relevant industrial and societal movements

Our expectations of you
The ideal candidate should be a recognized professional with both academic credentials and significant industrial experience. Moreover, the preferred candidate will have the following characteristics:

  • A relevant postgraduate qualification in a geotechnical or energy-related subject
  • Experience with project management
  • Familiarity with research environments, including proficiency in funding applications
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
  • A solid comprehension of the various stakeholder interests, including industry, government authorities and the general public
  • A broad understanding of the different energy sectors 
  • Experience with working in cross-disciplinary teams and international partnerships
  • Ability to navigate and switch freely between academic and business environments
  • Innovative skills and a creative mind-set
  • Energetic and enthusiastic, with strong drive
  • A proactive approach to solving problems
  • Good organisational abilities, including in data management
  • Expertise in relevant industry-standard software (e.g. GIS, geophysical interpretation, energy systems modelling)
  • Understanding of options for net zero emissions, including nature-based solutions, subsurface storage and energy economics
  • Preferably knowledge of energy islands, offshore structures and the marine environment
  • Preferably familiarity with power networks

DTU Offshore is a network organization, and the candidate should be willing to travel to partner institutions when need be.

Salary and appointment terms
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC). You are employed as a Senior Executive Officer.

The position is a full-time position, with a start date as early as possible for the preferred candidate.

The workplace is DTU Lyngby Campus, with possibility for working from home part of the time.
