We are seeking to employ a Scientific Technician who will be responsible for the daily running of the recombinant enzyme production pipeline within enzyme technology at DTU Bioengineering. The work includes high throughput expression screenings and liter-scale production of recombinant enzymes in procaryotic and eucaryotic microbial expression hosts.
The job
The lab production associate will be in charge of the lab production of recombinant enzymes in microbial expression hosts by fermentation for the enzyme discovery and enzyme technology research at DTU Bioengineering. The production of recombinant enzymes is from very small scale (including high throughput screening expression tests) to larger scale, meaning up to Liter scale fermentations in microbial procaryotic and eucaryotic expression hosts. The job includes including maintenance of the recombinant expression lab- pipeline and the relevant equipment, as well as responsibility for effective planning, systematic testing of new expression methods, high throughput screening, and recombinant protein production protocols in close collaboration with the Molecular Biology/Enzyme Biotechnology Lab Team leader and the Head of Section. The job also includes training of new group members and visitors in technologies and protocols used in the laboratory as well as supervision of selected students and PhD scholars.
The position has daily reference to the Molecular Biology/Enzyme Biotechnology Lab Team Leader, Dr. M. Vuillemin, and overall direct reference to the Enzyme Technology group leader, Head of Section Protein Chemistry and Enzyme Technology, Professor A. S. Meyer.
Our expectations of you/required qualifications
- Practical experience and academic level insight, at minimum MSc level, within recombinant enzyme protein production in both procaryotic and eucaryotic microbial systems
- Theoretical insight and practical experience with cloning techniques for recombinant enzyme expression.
- Experience with fundamental protein characterization methods and enzyme assays
- Strong organizational and systematic work approach skills.
- Strong collaboration skills, interpersonal communication, overview capacity, and exceptional reliability.
- Excellent communication skills in English and preferably Danish in speaking and writing.
Salary and appointment terms
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC). You are employed as an Academic Technician.
The position is a part time position 27 h/week. Starting date is January 1. 2024. The workplace is DTU Bioengineering at DTU Lyngby Campus.
