BEMÆRK: Ansøgningsfristen er overskredet

Do you want to advance state-of-the-art privacy-preserving machine learning algorithms?

We are looking for two PhD students, who are creative and enthusiastic for advancing machine learning research.

Our lab focuses on improving and developing methods in privacy-preserving machine learning, which aims at facilitating data analyses without sacrificing privacy. Our research program has three main objectives: to improve the trade-offs between privacy and accuracy; to advance differentially-private synthetic data generation techniques; and to study the interplay between differential privacy and other emerging characteristics such as interpretability, fairness and causality.

Responsibilities and qualifications
Our work is relevant to all the application domains were accessing and analysing privacy-sensitive data is a must. The technological solutions that we are working toward will help reduce the sensitivity of algorithms to sparse data points, facilitate the sharing of data between different and within organisations and improve systems used for human decision-making support through a focus on fairness, causality and interpretability.

Applicants should have prior research experience in a quantitative discipline (eg. engineering, computer science, statistics, mathematics, and physics).

Preferred qualifications include a high level of expertise in math and statistics, familiarity with Bayesian statistics, as well as experience with programming in Python and some deep learning tools like PyTorch.

Depending on interests and qualifications of the applicant, the project can either be theoretical, applied, or a combination thereof. We generally believe that theory and applications must go hand in hand to ensure that the theory is meaningful and beneficial to scientific discovery.

You must have a two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to a two-year master's degree.

Approval and Enrolment
The scholarship for the PhD degree is subject to academic approval, and the candidate will be enrolled in one of the general degree programmes at DTU. For information about our enrolment requirements and the general planning of the PhD study programme, please see DTU's rules for the PhD education
