At DTU Biosustain we develop the next generation (bio) technology using synthetic biology techniques. We create novel methods and technologies as a foundation for development of new environment friendly products, better and less energy consuming manufacturing processes, new medical treatments, climate friendly farming, etc. In other words, we try to solve some of the biggest challenges in the history of mankind. World-class research is to a wide extent founded on good data management, and that’s where you and your team enter the scene.
Present and positive people management of highly skilled people
How can we gather and make complex data from many sources accessible and usable the best possible way? Providing the answer to this question is delivered by your highly competent team. With the FAIR-principles as guiding light you make data Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable (FAIR).
Your team is agile and works within the framework of Scrum and Kanban. The results are created through software development activities, system maintenance, development of guidelines and policies as well as performing and developing training of research related personnel. The work is centered on maintaining and developing the informatics platform within the area of Research Data Management (RDM). A vital focus is usage of new technologies to ensure the digitalization and automation of research processes and workflows.
Approx. 75% of your time will be spend as visible and present people manager. The rest is spent on cross-organizational coordination including participation in the Data Management forum at DTU and maybe the National FAIR working group (if application is approved). Your primary tasks will be to:
- Set direction for your team based on the center’s and your team’s strategy and overall goals
- Lead and motivate your team of scientific experts via coaching, regular 1:1 sessions etc.
- Plan work for next sprints coordinated with the scrum master, Product Owners and team
- Managing usage and cost of infrastructure solutions (on prem servers and cloud)
- Ensure training and improved RDM literacy across the center in close collaboration with the Research Data Steward and LIMS Administrator
- Coordinate RDM activities with our sister institute, DTU Bioengineering
Experience as researcher or experience with research from a support function
We are looking for you that get a kick out of enabling other people to be their very best, professionally and socially. As such, you bring genuine interest in other people including openness towards different cultural and professional backgrounds, personal drivers etc. On top of this you must have the communication skills to making everybody understand “What, Why, Who and When”. “How” will the team to a wide extent manage for themselves. The combination of the above, mixed with your general stakeholder management skills, enable you to navigate safely in a setting with many strong personalities.
Additionally, your CV comprises:
- A Master’s or PhD degree within Life Science, Computer Science, or similar
- Experience as researcher or experience with research from a support function in a Life Science/Biotech R&D environment
- Good English skills written and spoken and Danish skills (you can understand Danish in a professional setting/at meetings etc.)
- Motivation for developing your skills as people manager
- Basic knowledge of agile development principles and motivation for elaborating your skills
Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.
