BEMÆRK: Ansøgningsfristen er overskredet

We are looking for a skilled and motivated lab manager who will support and contribute to the research at the Hearing Systems Section within the Department of Health Technology (DTU Health Tech) at DTU.

The job
You will be responsible for the maintenance and development of the research laboratories associated with the Hearing Systems Section, which is one of the sections within the Department of Health Technology at DTU. A key component of this will be to coordinate and communicate across the department, as well as other departments, to facilitate cross-disciplinary use of these laboratory facilities. You will work in close collaboration with the researchers in the section and department to achieve this.

The specific tasks involved in the maintenance and development of the lab facilities require technical know-how, as well as an innovative mindset and excellent communication skills. Beyond maintenance and development, this job provides the opportunity to develop novel approaches and techniques that contribute to ongoing research topics or to improve upon the lab facilities to drive new research streams. In this way, you will actively contribute to research within the section.

Primary areas of responsibility:

  • Maintenance of existing research infrastructure
  • Development and implementation of both new hardware and software to meet requirements and demands of new research projects
  • Documentation of the facilities and procedures on the internal website
  • Regular calibration of laboratory equipment
  • Coordination with other support staff for IT and building-related topics
  • Purchasing and setting up equipment for both laboratory use and offices
  • Communication with suppliers and manufacturers regarding consumables and service
  • Training of new lab members in the use of the facilities

Our expectations of you
We expect you to have a background in engineering (preferably electrical), physics (specifically acoustics), or a related technical field. You appreciate working in a team together with technical staff and researchers. You should have experience in handling equipment used for auditory and audiological research.

Experience in programming is an advantage, preferably in MATLAB, PYTHON or C/C++, as well as a thorough understanding of how to configure and manage Microsoft Windows operating systems (OS). An understanding of configuring pre-boot firmware interface environments (BIOS, UEFI and PXE) and OS deployment over network would also be beneficial, as well as a general understanding of IT systems and networks. It is an advantage (but not required) to have experience in conducting research projects or skills in electronics. Good communication skills (spoken/written) in English are required.

What we offer in return
We offer an interesting and challenging job in an international atmosphere with a focus on research, teaching, innovation and scientific advice for the benefit of the surrounding community. We place emphasis on a high level of professionalism among our staff, so ongoing development of skills is something we value highly. We offer great flexibility in the position. In the area of technical and natural sciences, DTU is one of the leading research and education institutions in Europe.

Salary and appointment terms
