We are inviting applications for an Assay Developer skilled in the design, development, and validation of diagnostic assays, particularly point-of-care tests (POCT). The ideal candidate will demonstrate a solid foundation in laboratory work and the ability to engage effectively in project management and stakeholder communication.

About the Centre for Diagnostics (CfD): 
The Centre for Diagnostics at DTU Health Tech is committed to pioneering advanced diagnostic solutions. We collaborate extensively with DTU departments, healthcare facilities, universities, and the biotech industry to develop and refine diagnostic assays utilized for the detection of biomarkers, pathogens, or pathogen-induced antibodies in both laboratory-based platforms and point-of-care devices. Our diverse portfolio includes PCR and serological diagnostics (Olink, MSD, Luminex and ELISA), supporting a wide range of stakeholders from hospitals to industrial partners.

Our new Assay Developer will:

  • Design and develop innovative diagnostic methods for POCT.
  • Manage project components including research findings, budgets, and progress updates.
  • Adhere to and work with ISO 17025 standards while striving for high-quality outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with a diverse team to enhance our diagnostic services.
  • Keep updated with the latest scientific advancements and integrate new technologies into development processes.

Our expectations

  • A Ph.D. in Immunology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Molecular Biology, or a closely related field.
  • Strong experience in assay development, especially ELISA-based and flow cytometry-based assays, PCR, and qPCR.
  • Previous experience in Systematic Evolution of Ligands by Exponential Enrichment (SELEX) for the in vitro development of aptamers specific for small target molecules.
  • Knowledge of protein-ligand interactions; experience with surface plasmon resonance (SPR) technology is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.

Salary and appointment terms
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union. 

Starting date is 1 September 2024. The position is a full-time position. 

The workplace is DTU Lyngby Campus.
