We are looking for a creative self-driven chemical engineer to develop downstream processing for biotechnological manufacturing of natural colors.

The job
You will join the team of scientists who develop novel yeast-based processes to produce chemicals and natural products in a more sustainable way. You will be responsible for development and optimization of the downstream process for natural colors in the lab. When a robust process has been established, you will take the process onwards to pilot. You will collaborate closely with other team members who work on the strain development and fermentation processes. 

Qualifications
Candidates should have a degree in chemical engineering or similar, preferably with several years of experience in running or developing downstream processes.

Further qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience with downstream unit operations, i.e.  separation and up-concentration techniques, specifically membrane filtration and adsorption 
  • Experience from food or biotech industry is a plus
  • Ability to work independently, to plan and carry out complicated research tasks, and also to be a part of the large research team
  • Experience in project planning and supervision of students or laboratory technicians
  • Team spirit and excellent collaboration skills
  • Strong analytical skills and excellent judgment ability
  • Excellent communication skills, also in written and oral English
  • Well-organized, efficient, result-oriented, have excellent record keeping abilities.

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union. 

The period of employment is two years.
