Exciting PhD Opportunity in Developing 3D Ultrasound Transducers for Medical Imaging

These multidisciplinary PhD-research projects are focused on developing silicon MEMS (micro-electro-mechanical systems) based 3D ultrasound transducers for medical ultrasound using cleanroom based micro-fabrication techniques. In the project a wide range of different processing techniques will be used, and new methods developed.

Responsibilities and qualifications
Your main responsibilities:

  • Design CMUT transducers.
  • Develop process flows.
  • Fabricate these in the DTU Nanolab cleanroom.
  • Characterize the transducers both electrically and acoustically.
  • Build experimental setups.
  • Publish your results in scientific journals.

Qualifications
We are looking for a colleague who likes to create results via positive and efficient teamwork. As part of this, you must thrive in a multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural and highly interactive environment where knowledge sharing, and collaboration are keys to succeed. 

Additionally, your CV comprises:

  • Hands on experience in cleanroom work.
  • Hands on experience in setting up and performing experiments on CMUTs.
  • Proven experience in transducer design.
  • Strong oral and written skills in English – our communication language is English.
  • Flexibility, enthusiasm, responsibility, team spirit and excellent collaboration skills.
  • Capable of working on your own initiative when appropriate.                                                     

You must have a two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to a two-year master's degree.

Approval and Enrolment 
The scholarships for the PhD degree are subject to academic approval, and the candidates will be enrolled in one of the general degree programmes at DTU. For information about our enrolment requirements and the general planning of the PhD study programme, please see DTU's rules for the PhD education .

Salary and appointment terms
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union. The period of employment is 3 years.
