We are looking for a proactive, reliable and well-organized facility and laboratory coordinator with expertise in designing, organizing and operating life science automation user-facilities. Your role will be vital to the success of DTU’s Arena for Life Science Automation (https://dalsa.dtu.dk/
). Together with a multidisciplinary team, you will create the optimal framework to facilitate the development of cutting-edge robotics solutions and provide life-scientists with seamless access to high-end laboratory automation equipment and workflows. As our Facility coordinator, you will be at the critical junction between developers (automation, robotics, and data specialists) and end-users (life scientists). This pivotal role positions you in the center of our efforts to advance automation within one of the most research-intensive, sustainable, innovative, highly productive and growing industries and internationally. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with a dedicated team of researchers, PhDs and Postdocs, technicians and engineers, supporting educational programs and interacting with students at all levels.
The job
We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Facility Coordinator with experience in life science laboratories and automated workflows. In this role, your day will be divided between supporting life scientists in achieving their biological research goals via DALSA’s equipment, and secondly contributing to the development of new automation solutions and workflows. As the coordinator, you will be responsible for developing the framework for how users’ access and interact with DALSA, you will further ensure the smooth operation of the facility, and play a crucial role in our team, working closely with researchers to manage and develop the setup enabling automation solutions for life-science laboratory.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop the laboratory and administrative setup that supports DALSA activities, including access model for public and private users, project safety, service contracts, purchase (new robots and materials), work and environmental safety, and training and onboarding program for new users
- Coordinate continuous updating and maintenance of the robotics equipment and facilities
- Contribute to the development and implement of new automation support strategies for our scientists, and educational programs
- Support educational programs, courses and student projects
- Stay up to date with emerging technologies within life-science automation
Skills and Qualifications
- Master’s degree, or equivalent experience in fields such as electrical/mechanical engineering, bioengineering or chemistry
- Experience from life science laboratory, ideally an user facility with external customers
- Solid experience in facility management
- Experience with setting up and running administrative procedures
- Previous experience with life-science lab automation (e.g. Tecan, Mantis, PerkinElmer…) is preferred

- Is creative, proactive, and have a goal-oriented mindset
- Has good interpersonal skills and an interest in working in an international multidisciplinary team
- Has excellent communication and presentation skills
- Has dissemination experience (via e.g. LinkedIn)
- Is fluent in English, both oral and written

Salary and appointment terms
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC). You are employed as an Academic Officer, Senior Officer, Senior Executive Officer.
You will be hired by DTU Construct but work across DTU’s departments via the DALSA initiative and its organizational framework. The offered job is a permanent position (37 hours per week).
