Analysing small molecules by GC-MS
The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Biosustainability (DTU Biosustain) at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) aims at developing new knowledge and technologies to help facilitate the transformation from the existing oil-based chemical industry to a more sustainable bio-based society in which chemicals are produced biologically. The Biofoundry Analytics Team is providing reliable and accurate analytical services for the entire DTU Biosustain by means of state-of-the-art analytical techniques. We are now seeking a skilled Analytical Chemist to join the team in providing DTU Biosustain with professional analytical services.
The job
As an Analytical Chemist you will be part of a dynamic international team where you will be supporting the on-going activities and projects. You will be reporting directly to the Head of Analytics and your immediate responsibilities will be:
- Running existing GC-MS methods
- Setting up workflows (sample preparation, method development and data processing) for new GC-MS analyses
- Handling and reporting experimental data in reports, lab notebooks and LIMS-systems
- Writing and maintaining SOPs
- Flexibly and proactively helping other team members within the Analytics Team
- Daily maintenance and troubleshooting of GC-MS equipment
Your qualifications
- MSc in analytical chemistry or similar
- Hands on experience in running GC-MS analyses
- Hands on experience in setting up and performing sample preparation of biological samples for GC-MS analyses
- Proven experience in GC-MS method development and validation
- Very good communication and collaboration skills
- Very good skills in English (both oral and written) – our communication language is English
- Positive attitude
- Capable of working on your own initiative when appropriate
- Ability to keep calm in a hectic environment

Salary and appointment terms
The salary and appointment terms will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations (AC) and take into account the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
The position is a full-time position with a preferred starting date on May1st, 2025 (or according to mutual agreement).
The place of work is the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Biosustainability (DTU Biosustain), DTU Lyngby Campus.
