The Section for Geotechnics and Geology at DTU Sustain is looking for a skilled laboratory engineer to help strengthen and further develop its research, teaching, and scientific advice activities within pavement engineering and geotechnics.

The job
The position entails: 

  • Operation and maintenance of existing laboratory and field test equipment; 
  • Acceptance, setup, operation, and maintenance of new laboratory and field test equipment; 
  • Support of ongoing research, teaching, and scientific advice activities within pavement materials, soil mechanics, rock mechanics, permafrost, and geophysics; 
  • Help in the design and development of new/unconventional test setups in the laboratory and field;
  • Supporting the Section’s efforts in attracting external funding.

Our expectations of you
It is expected that you: 

  • Hold a BSc, MSc, or PhD degree in civil or mechanical engineering; 
  • Have experience in mechanical testing of geomaterials; 
  • Possess good written and spoken communication skills in English; and 
  • Display good team-working spirit and openness to learn.

It will be considered advantageous if you have: 

  • The willingness to travel from time to time within and outside Denmark;
  • Experience in working with distributed fibre-optic sensing; 
  • Experience in CAD and 3D printing; 
  • Knowledge in electronics and sensing; and 
  • Coding and data analysis capabilities.

Salary and appointment terms
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations; the allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union. The position will be customized depending on the preferred candidate's profile.

The position is a full-time position; the period of employment is open-ended (i.e., a time-unlimited contract). 

The preferred starting date is August 1, 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter.
