Head of Individual Development Plans (IDP)
Club: Lyngby Boldklub (Denmark)
Contract: Full-time
Start Date: 01.02-2026
Role Overview
The Head of Individual Development Plans (IDP) is responsible for building, running, and continuously improving Lyngby Boldklub’s player development system across the First Team, U19, U17, and Talent groups.
The role is hands-on and football-driven. You will work daily on the training pitch, in meetings, and in analysis rooms to ensure every player knows what they are developing, why they are developing it, and how it connects to Lyngby’s game model and playing identity.
This position connects coaching, performance, and recruitment to ensure clear development pathways and smooth transitions from academy football to first-team level.
Key Responsibilities
1. Individual Development Planning (Daily Football Focus)
- Build and maintain clear, simple, and football-relevant IDPs for all players.
- Ensure each IDP links directly to the club’s playing model, positional demands, and match requirements.
- Align technical, tactical, physical, and mental development goals into one clear plan per player.
- Adapt IDPs by age group while keeping the same developmental language and standards across the club.
2. Training & Match Integration
- Work closely with coaches to embed IDP objectives into weekly training plans and session design.
- Ensure individual focus points are visible in team training, small-sided games, and match preparation.
- Support coaches in translating match demands into concrete development actions for players.
- Observe training and matches regularly to ensure IDP work is reflected on the pitch.
3. Player Monitoring & Analysis
- Use video analysis, GPS, physical data, and match trends to track player development.
- Keep player monitoring practical and decision-oriented – data should support football decisions, not replace them.
- Identify strengths, weaknesses, and next-step priorities for each player.
- Adjust IDPs based on performance trends, match exposure, and training responses.
4. Player Communication & Ownership
- Lead regular 1v1 IDP meetings with players.
- Create clarity so players fully understand their role, strengths, and development focus.
- Encourage responsibility and ownership of development, both on and off the pitch.
- Support players during key transition phases (Academy to First Team, loans, return from injury).
5. Coach Support & Alignment
- Act as a daily sparring partner for coaches on player development topics.
- Help coaches give clear, consistent, and actionable feedback linked to IDPs.
- Support the use of modern coaching principles such as game-based learning and constraints-led approaches.
- Ensure alignment between academy and first-team staff regarding development expectations.
6. Pathway & Talent Alignment
- Ensure development standards are consistent across all age groups.
- Work with recruitment and talent identification to define the type of players Lyngby wants to develop and sign.
Candidate Profile
- Strong experience in elite football environments (academy, first team, or high-performance development roles).
- Deep understanding of football training methodology and match demands.
- Comfortable working hands-on on the pitch and in analysis environments.
- Strong communication skills with players and staff.
- UEFA coaching qualification and/or relevant academic background preferred.
What Lyngby Boldklub Offers
- A clear football identity with strong focus on player development.
- Daily influence on how players train, play, and progress.
- Close collaboration with first-team and academy staff.
- A key role in shaping the club’s long-term sporting direction.
