We are looking for an aspiring candidate for a PhD position in a collaborative research project at the Center for Biosustainability (CfB), Technical University of Denmark. In this project we set out to explore biosensing in the yeast Saccharomyces boulardii and to and program it for accurate spatio-temporal delivery. The project will particularly focus on G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR)-based biosensing. Responsibilities and qualifications
Within this project the successful candidate will be responsible for leading investigations into programming of reliable biosensing in yeast. The key responsibilities of the successful candidate will include

  • Characterizing GPCR-based biosensing in probiotic yeast.
  • Ensure close collaboration with international partners.
  • Publish impactful scientific papers.

Required Qualifications

  • A scientific record with international publications.
  • Scientific creativity and curiosity.
  • Openness to innovation.
  • Enthusiasm, responsibility, and excellent collaboration skills.
  • Keen on generating high-quality data.
  • Basic programming skills.
  • Strong oral and written skills in English.

Specific Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have expertise in the following research areas, without being an exhaustive list:

  • Proven track-record within yeast synthetic biology.
  • Experience working with GPCR-based biosensing in yeast.
  • Experience working with flow cytometry.

You must have a two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to a two-year master's degree.

Approval and Enrolment  
The scholarship for the PhD degree is subject to academic approval, and the candidate will be enrolled in one of the general degree programmes at DTU. For information about our enrolment requirements and the general planning of the PhD study programme, please see DTU's rules for the PhD education

Salary and appointment terms
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union. The period of employment is 3 years.
