Experienced project manager for a new Fleming Fund Regional Grant in Southeast Asia.
The National Food Institute at DTU is looking for an experienced project manager to manage a soon-to-be funded capacity building project in Southeast Asia. In this position, you will be part of a team addressing antimicrobial resistance through the introduction of whole genome sequencing.
The job
As our new colleague you will be responsible for setting up a new project in Thailand, in collaboration with the project manager for Fleming Fund, Regional Grant EQAsia and support the training of two regional sequencing hubs. Your job will include keeping track of deliverables, coordinating with technical staff, partners and stakeholders, organizing in-person and online training events, and complying with funder reporting requirements, as well as managing the financial responsibilities of the project, hereunder budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting to the funder.
Primary areas of responsibility:
- Matrix management of an internal team, as well as team members located at external partners.
- Coordination of project activities with project partners, funding agency, and other Fleming Fund projects.
- Support the introduction of sequencing and bioinformatics capacity building activities.
- Project monitoring and evaluation; preparing quarterly and annual technical reports for the funder.
- Planning and organizing training courses and capacity strengthening efforts.
- Grant management, including reporting and monitoring of financial outlays.
- Driving sustainability and exit planning efforts.
- Knowledge dissemination of project data, achievements, and progress.
- Travel, when needed, to assist in strategic meetings and training events.
Our expectations of you
We are looking for someone who is curious, flexible, solution-oriented and open-minded. We expect you to have a background in global health, public health, international development or a similar area, and extensive experience in project management working with international health projects in LMIC, preferably Asia. This role requires a team player who has the skills to create structure within a new project and to seek opportunities and collaborations with other projects and grants. You should be comfortable representing the project in different political and cultural environments.
Essential experience would include:
- Several years of experience successfully managing large, capacity building projects related to health in LMICs, preferable Asia.
- Documented experience managing a team located in various geographies.
- Financial management experience of projects.
- Excellent communication skills in English (minimum C1 level) both orally and in writing
- Good communication skills, both oral and written.
- At least a master’s degree, preferably within global/public health, international development, microbiology, epidemiology, bioinformatics, or a similar area.
- Previous experience working with sustainability and exiting planning.
- Experience with antimicrobial resistance and/or whole genome sequencing is preferred.

Salary and appointment terms
This project appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC). You are employed as an Academic Officer or Senior Officer depending on your profile.
This is a full-time position. The starting date is preferably 1 October 2024 (or according to mutual agreement). The initial period of project employment is until 31 December 2025, we will however, keep you posted regarding further developments within the project.
