Join the forefront of scientific discovery at the Department of Physics! We are excited to offer an opportunity for a dynamic and passionate Scientific Lab Manager. In this role, you will spearhead the design, development, and operation of cutting-edge experiments and equipment in the field of Quantum Information Technology. Your expertise will drive research and innovation and ensure the utmost standards of safety in our world-class laboratories.
As the Scientific Lab Manager, you will closely collaborate with undergraduate students, PhD students, postdocs, and researchers, and be responsible for:
- Construction and Operation of Optical Setups: Design and manage sophisticated optical systems for quantum technology experiments.
- Electronic Phase Locking Loops: Develop and operate electronic circuits for precise stabilization of experimental parameters.
- Optical Detectors: Implement and operate various optical acquisition systems including homodyne detectors, cryogenic photon counters and spectrometers.
- Cryostats and Vacuum Chambers: Operate and maintain cryostats, including dilution refrigerators, and vacuum chamber systems.
- Advanced Acquisition Systems: Implement, manage, and operate solutions for acquisition, processing, and storage of data (analogue and digital) in complex experiments.
- Laser Ablation Setup: Maintain, operate, and further develop an infrared laser ablation system.
- Advanced Laser Systems: Oversee the maintenance and operation of cutting-edge laser technology.
- Laboratory Establishment: Lead the establishment of new laboratories and support the acquisition, commissioning, and installation of complex technical equipment.
- Safety and Documentation: Ensure adherence to safety protocols. Establish documentation for work procedures, protocols, and the safe operation of laboratory setups and equipment.
- Data Management: Facilitate the safe, efficient, and transparent management of data generated in experiments.
- Lab Management: As a dedicated team player, you will be contributing to a supportive laboratory culture, emphasizing self-responsibility while also facilitating collaboration between group members.
In addition to managing lab operations, this role offers the opportunity to engage in our academic activities, including teaching support and contributing to research publications. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in both educational and research advancements, with opportunities for collaboration and co-authorship in scientific studies.
Qualifications
- A PhD degree in physics or engineering with a focus on quantum optics or quantum information technology (or similar background).
- Extensive experience with quantum optical lab equipment.
- Proficiency in data processing and instrument control with Python is advantageous.
- We expect you to be service-minded, creative, and patient, and have a strong drive for developing solutions to challenging tasks.
- You must have strong communication skills in English.

Salary and appointment terms
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC) or any other relevant agreement.
